Susan Brandt received her BS in Art and Elementary Education from Peabody College, Nashville. She is currently a Professor of Education at Volunteer State Community College. She has studied with Harold Miller, Joe Miller, and at Arrowmont Workshops in Gatlinburg. Susan's medium of choice is watercolor, although she occasionally works in pastels, color pencils, and oils. She favors rural scenes as subject matter and is especially drawn to Tennessee grist mills.
Susan says of her training, "While I am mostly self-taught, my greatest growth has come from teaching. I am thankful to my students, who challenge me to try new approaches and to break down the painting process for beginners."
Ms. Brandt has held one man shows at Cheekwood, University Club at Vanderbilt, Monthaven in Hendersonville, Bookstar Book Store, and Govan's Coffee House in Gallatin.
